Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Butter Sauce cook up quick and crispy! The lemon butter sauce perfectly complements the rich Brussels sprout flavor.

The crispiest Brussels Sprouts!
If you peeked inside our refrigerator after a trip to the grocery store, more often than not, you’d find a bag of Brussels sprouts waiting to be cooked. We love them!
Most of the time, we roast them in the oven – because Brussels sprouts are the best when they are crispy and caramelized.
So, I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and extra crispy these Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts turned out! A creamy, tart lemon butter sauce was drizzled on top when served, and the citrus really complemented the flavors of our sprouts.
Why you’ll love Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Butter Sauce
- After trimming the sprouts, this easy vegetable side dish cooks up in just twenty minutes thanks to the intense, circulating heat of the air fryer.
- The flavor of the crispy Brussels sprouts pairs perfectly with the tart, creamy lemon butter sauce.
- It’s a great menu option to serve alongside a pan-seared steak or grilled pork chops, or roasted chicken.
- This would also be a great choice for your Thanksgiving menu. (Because it’s made in the air fryer, this dish won’t use up oven space.)
Key Ingredients & Substitutions
- Brussels sprouts – Buy small Brussels sprouts if you can find them. Large can also be used – you’ll just want to cut them in half or quarters depending on the size.
- Extra Virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper
- Butter – For the sauce, we always cook with unsalted butter so we can add salt to season the dish as needed
- Lemons – You’ll use both the lemon zest and juice in this recipe
Tips & Tricks
If you don’t have an air fryer, you can roast the Brussels sprouts in a hot 400 degree F oven until crispy and tender.
How do I make Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts with Lemon Butter Sauce?
- Trim the stems off the Brussels sprouts. Cut larger ones in half or quarters.
- Toss the sprouts with oil, salt and pepper.
- Air fry for five minutes, toss and air fry for five more. You may need to cook the Brussels sprouts in two batches depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Mix butter, lemon juice and zest, then serve over cooked Brussels sprouts.
Frequently Asked Questions
- Why are my Brussels Sprouts mushy? You either cooked them for too long. Or, you over-crowded the sprouts in the air fryer, so the hot air couldn’t circulate around and crisp them up. Instead, the sprouts steamed and got mushy. You may need to air fry the Brussels sprouts in two batches to avoid over-crowding, depending on the size of your air fryer.
- Can I make Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts ahead of time? You can, but this recipe is best freshly cooked and served right out of the air fryer.
- How do I store leftovers? Store refrigerated for up to three days
- How do I reheat leftovers? Reheat in the air fryer for best results, or in the microwave. (They won’t be as crispy in the microwave.)
- Can I freeze? No, they will get mushy after thawing.
