Key Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Pickles – Buy the whole, small baby dill pickles for this recipe, as they have small seeds and a firm texture. (Longer, pre-cut pickle spears have large seeds and get softer sitting in the brine, so they are not suitable for this dip.)
  • Pickle Juice – Save the pickle juice! It’s added to the dip as a flavoring.
  • Cream Cheese – This makes the dip extra creamy and thick. Make sure to soften the cream cheese before mixing the dip.
  • Mayonnaise
  • Sour Cream
  • Fresh Garlic
  • Red Onion
  • Capers
  • Dill – You can use fresh or dry dill for this recipe, although fresh is best.
  • Kosher Salt
  • White Pepper – The white pepper will blend seamlessly into the creamy white dip. You can also use finely ground black pepper if you don’t mind seeing black specs throughout.
  • Potato Chips – For serving, be sure to choose a sturdy chip such as rippled/wavy cut or kettle cooked potato chips.

How do I make Creamy Dill Pickle Dip?

  1. Whisk softened cream cheese, mayonnaise, and sour cream together in a mixing bowl.
  2. Chop pickles, red onion, garlic, and capers.
  3. Add chopped ingredients and the rest of the herbs and seasonings to the bowl.
  4. Stir to combine.
  5. Refrigerate for several hours to chill through.
  6. Serve with chips or crackers, adding more chopped pickles on top for garnish if you’d like.

Cooking Tip

Chop the pickles as coarse or fine as you’d like. We preferred a chunkier dip so we coarsely chopped the pickles.
