![Our recipe for Seasoned Hamburgers with Caramelized Onions - so good and so easy! Great for summer barbecues.](https://www.afamilyfeast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/burger_2.jpg)
Our Seasoned Hamburgers with Caramelized Onions is another recipe that my husband and I debated whether or not to post here on A Family Feast. Similar to our Caesar Salad with Grilled Caesar Chicken – this is another recipe that is so simple, it can hardly be called a recipe!
But whenever we serve these seasoned hamburgers – our guests always ask us how we make the burgers taste so good! And here’s our secret recipe:
The ground beef is seasoned with a packet of Good Seasons Italian Salad Dressing & Recipe Mix and A.1. Steak Sauce
! Just mix it all together – simple as that, and you’re ready to grill! Once the burgers are cooked, smear some of our fabulous Blue Cheese Aioli on a hearty hamburger roll, top it with some caramelized onions…and you and your guests will be in burger heaven!
I first made these seasoned hamburgers with caramelized onions for Jack years ago when we first started dating each other – and along with my mushroom risotto – Jack likes to say that these burgers were so good, they made him fall in love with me! I think you’ll fall in love with these seasoned hamburgers with caramelized onions too!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Seasoned Hamburgers with Caramelized Onions
These recipe instructions are written for the burgers to be cooked on the stove top in a cast iron skillet, but these burgers can also be grilled just as well!
Ingredients
- One large onion, cut into thick slices
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Few grinds of black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 2 pounds 80/20 ground beef
- 1 0.7–ounce packet Good Seasons Italian Dressing and Recipe Mix
- 1/8 cup A.1. Steak Sauce
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- Blue Cheese Aioli
- 6 to 8 burger or bulkie rolls
Instructions
- Place onion, oil, butter, salt, pepper and sugar in a medium skillet and turn to medium to medium low. Heat the onion slices, stirring occasionally, for 45 minutes or until nice and caramelized.
- In a medium bowl, gently mix Good Seasons Italian Dressing packet and A.1. Steak Sauce into ground beef and form into patties.
- In a large cast iron skillet, add one tablespoon of the olive oil and heat pan over medium high heat.
- Place the patties in the skillet and sear untouched for two to three minutes, or until a nice crust has formed. Flip, reduce the heat to medium and cook until your desired doneness.
- Smear the top of a cut bulkie or burger roll with blue cheese aioli. Place the cooked burger on the bottom of the roll, then top the burger with the caramelized onions. Serve with pickle and potato salad.

Hello. I am planning on preparing 10-15 hamburgers using 10 lbs of ground beef 70/30…would I just stick to your ratio on the
1- spice packet & 1/8 c of A-1 sauce to every 2lbs of ground beef?
So to be clear I would use 5 spice packets for 10 lbs of ground beef? Thanks in advance
Hi Lisa – Yes – although if you have some concerns about using so much of the seasoning packets, you could always start with less and cook up a small sample to taste, then add more to suit your tastes. Hope that helps!
Made these burgers for dinner tonight on the grill! Not a speck of anything left! These are absolutely phenomenal, and the blue cheese sauce is DIVINE!!!
Thanks Jen!! We’re so glad you enjoyed the recipe!!
