We’re sharing #OurAmericanKitchen Memories as part of a sponsored post for GE Appliances. All opinions are 100% mine.
When my husband Jack and I started dating (way back when!) we discovered that we had quite a lot in common. We each came from large, working-class families with lots of brothers and sisters, and parents who made sure that supper around the kitchen table was family time.
Both of us also spent our Sundays visiting with our grandparents, enjoying a home-cooked meal around the kitchen table – where we heard stories about ‘the old country’ and what it was like when my parents and grandparents were younger. It is where we came to know each of our family’s histories!
The kitchen is where Jack cooked dinner for me the night he proposed (in my small apartment with hardly any counter space!). And where we made homemade lasagna for 100 people who came to our wedding…
Our American Kitchen is where cousins came together to bake a special chocolate cake just for Nanny…
The kitchen is where our daughter took some of her very first steps. It’s the room where homework is completed, Easter eggs are colored….
…and homemade sugar cookies for Santa are decorated. And Our American Kitchen is where we hope our daughter develops her own life-long love of cooking! The kitchen is also where each of us grew to love and appreciate the old family recipes that inspire so many of the recipes we share here on A Family Feast! And years later, the familiar smells and tastes of certain foods and recipes can send each of us back in time and evoke such a strong emotion and memory! (Scroll below for the links to the recipes shown here.) There’s no doubt about it – the kitchen really is the heart of our home! So we’re happy to be partnering with GE Appliances today to talk about their #OurAmericanKitchen campaign! For more than 100 years, GE Appliances have been part of so many American kitchens. In fact, when Jack and I first moved into our home, our kitchen was outfitted with all new GE Appliances – and when it came time to buy a new refrigerator, our choice was again a GE!
