It’s a zesty-sweet sauce made from ingredients you probably have on hand in your kitchen pantry and refrigerator. Just whisk it together in a bowl and enjoy.

How do I make Copycat Arby's Sauce?

  1. Place all ingredients into a bowl and whisk to combine.
  2. Chill until ready to serve. (You may want to whisk again after the sugar dissolves.)
  3. Serve spooned over our Roast Beef and Cheddar Sliders or any sandwich or burger that calls for barbecue sauce.

Tips & Tricks

Allow the Copycat Arby’s Sauce to sit for at least fifteen minutes so the brown sugar fully dissolves and the flavors meld together.

  • Can I make Copycat Arby’s Sauce ahead of time?  Yes, should be made ahead so the flavors have a change to meld.
  • How do I store leftovers?   Store in a covered container or bottle in the refrigerator for as long as the expiration date of the ketchup you used.
  • Can I freeze?  We’ve never tried freezing this sauce. You probably can, but we recommend mixing up just the amount that you need.

Ingredients

1/2 cup ketchup

2 tablespoons cider vinegar

3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

2 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons brown sugar

45 drops of your favorite hot sauce (we used Cholula)

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

1/4 teaspoon onion powder

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Mix all ingredients in a medium bowl and chill.
  • Serve on any sandwich or in any recipe calling for barbecue sauce.

This is essentially the same recipe I use to make Carolina BBQ sauce (Lexington style), except I use red pepper flakes instead of hot sauce, and I add a bit of liquid smoke for a touch of, well, smokiness. I usually wait until I have roughly the right amount of ketchup left in the bottle, then add the other ingredients to the bottle and shake well, making for virtually no cleanup.
