Whenever we have friends or family over for breakfast or brunch, my husband Jack makes this fabulous Sundried Tomato and Basil Cream Cheese Spread.  In fact, I sometimes think he invites people over just so he can make this recipe – he loves it so much!

It’s a very simple recipe. Start with some softened cream cheese, and then simply mix in some chopped fresh basil and chopped sundried tomatoes – and you’re done!

This sundried tomato and basil cream cheese spread is just three ingredients – but the combination of flavors is fantastic!  There’s a savory-sweet flavor profile in this spread – the intense rich flavor from the sundried tomatoes combined with the cream cheese tastes almost sweet, and then the fresh basil flavor is the perfect savory note to balance out the flavors of this wonderful spread.

  1. Hi , this looks amazing! I just have dry sun-dried tomatoes (not stored in oil). How can I use that for this recipe?

    1. Hi Darshita – I’d suggest soaking the dried tomatoes in some hot water for 30 minutes or so, then drain and you should be good to go!

  2. Simple the best! Had this every week at Begals on the Square in NYC. Now I make it myself in Florida. A perfect flavor combination.

  3. Hi, this recipe sounds amazing but I would like to know if this would be good as a dip for fresh vegetables?

    1. Hi Lina – It’s thick – the consistency of cream cheese but you could try thinning it out to make a dip – perhaps swapping some of the cream cheese for sour cream or Greek yogurt. A whipped cream cheese might also make it softer but I think you’ll still need to add the sour cream to make it more of a dip consistency. Hope that helps!

      1. Yes! Another great way to enjoy the spread, although if you want to use it as a vegetable dip, you could thin it out with a little bit of mayonnaise mixed in.

  4. I totally love savory cream cheese spreads on my bagel in the morning. I can’t wait to try this!! Pinned!

  5. Ohhh this looks amazing, I think your husband’s on to something! Pinning this to make soon! 🙂
