When people hear that my husband Jack and I are food bloggers, they often assume that our daughter – with two parents who love to cook and eat – must also be a ‘little foodie’ herself! But sadly – that’s not at all the case. We’ve recognized over the years that for our daughter, it’s sometimes more of a texture-issue than it is how a food tastes. One time she will try and love a new food. Then the next time – if something is a little different, that turns her completely off! So we really struggle to get her to eat as many fruits and vegetables as we know she should, in order to eat a balanced diet.
We’re always on the lookout for kid-friendly foods for Emma to try – and that’s where Del Monte comes in! Del Monte is best known for their Garden Quality fruits and vegetables – and their Fruit Burst Squeezers and Plastic Fruit Cups are a great way to Add Some Garden to Your Lunchbox! Emma loves Del Monte’s little Plastic Fruit Cups, and with the help of our grandson, JC – she tried – and liked (yay!) the Blueberry and the Peach Mango Fruit Squeezers! As a mom, I love that Del Monte’s Fruit Burst Squeezers have 1½ servings of fruits and vegetables in every portion, have no high fructose corn syrup or artificial colors, and are an excellent source of Vitamin C. Plus – they are also gluten-free (which is important since JC eats a gluten-free diet)!
Their Blueberry, Apple Cinnamon and Peach Mango Squeezers are a blend of BOTH fruits and vegetables (although they taste most like fruit!), while their fruit-only flavors include the Mixed Berry and Strawberry. They are a perfect addition to your kids’ lunchbox or a convenient snack on the go!
And – let me tell you about a clever trick that I’ve discovered this summer! Emma is going to summer camp and we pack her a lunch every morning. We freeze the Fruit Squeezers the night before, then pack it in her lunchbox in the morning before she leaves for camp. The frozen Fruit Squeezer saves us from having to pack an extra ice pack in her lunch box, and by the time Emma is ready to eat lunch – it’s thawed but still cold!
And, by the way, the Fruit Burst Squeezers are also great for preparing these super easy yogurt pops – just blend two Fruit Burst Squeezers in the flavor of your choice with a cup of vanilla yogurt.
