Hawaiian Pizza - A Family Feast

Hawaiian Pizza

Hawaiian Pizza has sweet chunks of pineapple plus cooked ham and bacon for toppings along with our homemade pizza sauce and shredded mozzarella cheese.

Yield: 8 slices 1x
Prep: 45 minutesCook: 15 minutesTotal: 1 hour
Scale:

Ingredients

20-ounce ball of pizza dough (make our recipe or use store bought)

All-Purpose Flour, for stretching the dough

Corn Meal, for dusting the pizza peel

8 ounces bacon, cut into half-inch pieces

3/4 cup pizza sauce (make our easy pizza sauce recipe or store bought)

1 8-ounce can pineapple tidbits, well drained

4 ounces cooked ham, cut into pieces

12 ounces (3 1/2 cups) fresh whole milk mozzarella cheese, shredded and divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 550 degrees F and place a pizza stone on the very bottom rack.
  2. Remove the pizza dough from refrigeration and press into a disc over a floured counter. Cover with a towel and once warmed up and flexible, stretch to a 14-inch circle.
  3. Dust a pizza peel with corn meal and lay the stretched dough over it.
  4. Cook bacon in a medium sauté pan over medium heat to render out the fat. Remove the bacon pieces to a paper towel lined plate just before it starts to crisp. It will cook further on the pizza.
  5. Spread the pizza sauce almost to the edge, leaving an edge crust.
  6. Spread three cups of the shredded cheese over the sauce.
  7. Sprinkle on the cooked ham, cooked bacon, and drained pineapple pieces.
  8. Top with the remaining half cup of cheese.
  9. Slide the pizza from the peel onto the stone and bake 8-12 minutes depending on your oven and how crisp you like your pizza. If the bottom gets too dark before the top is cooked, slide off the stone back onto the peel and then slide on a top rack to finish baking. We did ten minutes on the stone and two minutes on a top rack.
  10. Slide back onto the peel and onto your cutting board.
  11. Cut into eight slices and enjoy.
