2 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate
½ cup vegetable shortening
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs, beaten
Pinch of salt
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup Cocoa Krispies cereal (optional)
1 cup walnuts, finely chopped fine
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a large glass bowl place chocolate and shortening and microwave for a few minutes until the two ingredients melt together. Use a wooden spoon and stir.
Add sugar and stir to combine. Add eggs and stir to combine. Add salt, flour and vanilla and stir to combine. Add optional Cocoa Krispies and stir to combine.
Butter and flour a quarter sheet pan (9×13-inch) and spread batter to all edges and smooth on top.
Sprinkle with the nuts and bake for 15-18 minutes until the center has a tooth pick come out clean when inserted.
Cut into 24 pieces right in the pan then once cool, use a spatula and move to a rack to cool further.
