This Buttermilk Fried Chicken recipe is crispy and flavorful on the outside, and juicy and tender on the inside!
3-4 pounds whole chicken or chicken pieces
2 cups buttermilk
1 cup water
3 tablespoons kosher salt
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 teaspoons garlic powder
6 whole black peppercorns
2 large sprigs fresh rosemary
8 small sprigs fresh thyme
2 more cups of buttermilk
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
3 or more cups lard *
