A Family Feast has a new look! Let us show you around – then join us in the kitchen!
Hi Everyone – As you might have noticed, things look a little different around here!
Jack and I are so excited to show you around our new, updated website that was designed and built by the super-talented Lindsay Humes. Please click around and check things out!
The changes you’ll see were made with you – our wonderful readers – in mind, so that you can easily find the recipes you want. Plus, as you explore our site, we hope you’ll discover new and inspiring dishes to cook for your family and friends.
Join Us In the Kitchen
As you make any of the recipes from our site, we really DO want you to feel like Jack and I are right there with you cooking in the kitchen!
As always, we’ll show you photos of each recipe (after all, we eat first with our eyes – don’t we?), and we’ll also share a little bit about what inspired us to create the recipe in the first place. And often times, we also share little tips and tricks about preparing the recipe in the post.
But most importantly – we strive to write accurate and easy-to-understand recipe instructions (no matter how easy or complicated the recipe may be) so you can feel confident cooking our recipes in your kitchen. We want you to be successful and serve a delicious meal to your family and friends.
Let us show you around
First off – you’ll always find a search box at the top of every page, so you can easily find the exact recipe you are looking for. Just type in the recipe name and press ‘enter’ (or sometimes ‘go’ on your mobile device).
As you scroll down, a floating menu and search box will always display at the top.
Click on our logo (or on the letter F in the scrolling menu) from any page, and you’ll go right to the A Family Feast homepage.
The homepage is one of the best places to check out what’s new and popular on our site.
In our Main Menu – you find links to our:
- Recipe Index – An easy way to search for recipes. (More About the Recipe Index.)
- Easy Dinners – During a recent reader survey, so many of you told us that you often struggled with finding the time to cook dinner for your family. Our Easy Dinners section is a great place to find easy (and delicious) dinner ideas.
- Healthy Choices – You also told us that you are trying to eat healthier foods – and we are too! We have recipes that are lower in calories (but still very delicious), vegetarian, low-carb, Whole30, and even a few from Weight Watchers.
- Comfort Food – This section is the best place to find all kinds of soul-satisfying, savory comfort foods from cheesy casseroles to dips and soups.
- Cooking Lessons – We have step-by-step cooking techniques, as well as recipes for make-your-own from scratch versions of popular store-bought foods. (You’ll never buy the bottled or jarred stuff again once you see how easy it is to make it at home!)
- Holidays – Here you’ll find recipes and menu ideas for hosting a perfect family feast at special events and parties all year long.
As you continue scrolling down, that floating menu up top also includes a link to our recipe Videos. (Click to watch how some of our most popular recipes are made.)
Next, you’ll see a section with Trending Recipes that are very popular right now with other A Family Feast readers. Some are made with seasonal ingredients, some are long-time reader favorites, and others are new recipes that are quickly gaining in popularity. Hover your mouse over the photo to see the title and click to see the recipe.
Right below that, you’ll see another pull down menu with lots of different ways to browse for your next recipe – including Type of recipe (this search option most closely matches our old site’s recipe index), Cuisine, Dietary, Holidays, Ingredients, and Cooking Method.
And right below that are our most Recent Posts. If you were used to checking our homepage in the past for the latest recipes we posted, this is now the place to look for them.
And finally, down below we’ll suggest additional recipes for you to explore. (You may discover some new recipes to try!)
More about the Recipe Index
This is one of our favorite new features – and it’s a fun and interactive way to explore our recipes. Scroll through our entire recipe list for inspiration, or click on the check boxes along the left side of the recipe images to narrow down your search. We used cookies in the example below.
Once you find the recipe you are looking for – we’ve given you a quick and easy way to jump right to the recipe card (we understand…sometimes you just want to get to the recipe), or go right to leaving us a comment. (We love hearing from you!)
And, you can print or pin the recipe right from the top of our recipe card.
